Dbtech announced today the signing of an agreement with Evangelical Community Hospital of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania for the implementation of dbtech’s eFolders solution.

Evangelical, while in the final planning stages of a Lawson (Infor) implementation project, began an analysis on vendors with image enablement tools to connect resumes, invoices and other paper documents to their soon to be installed Lawson solution. Critical characteristics of the Enterprise Content
Management (ECM) solution were transparency, platform independence, healthcare experience and affordability.

Evangelical, a dbtech customer since 2010, uses dbtech’s Rasi solution to collect and manage patient information from registration to remittance. Images associated with patients are served through the EMR and Patient Financial Services platforms.

“We knew that dbtech’s Programming Interface (API) worked very well with our EMR, and their claim to work with any IT platform proved to be true for our Lawson system as well. We wanted a solution that permitted real-time scanning and access to images as well as one that could replace paper workflows with eForms down the road,” Dale Moyer, Vice President of Information Services/Chief Information Officer at Evangelical. “eFolders was released in 2013 but its technical roots are found within our existing Rasi platform, which has been serving customers for over 10 years” said Greg Park, dbtech director of enterprise solutions.

As experts in ECM, and one of the first vendors in the market, dbtech designed eFolders to aggregate, distribute and automate structured and non-structured content from any platform into a vendor neutral solution developed to streamline existing financial and administrative workflows. “One of the challenges facing EMR’s and EHR’s is the distribution of content to non-patient facing personnel. As an example, eFolders will aggregate purchase orders and inbound invoices while managing approval processes. This application of eFolders will save our customers money by leveraging early payment discounts and avoiding lost and missing invoices,” Park said.

eFolders collects content from existing IT platforms and external sources, including outputs from any platform or desktop, scanned images, electronic invoices, photographs and any other content. eFolders is classified as a Vendor Neutral Archiving and Automation solution that expedites document approvals, collaboration and the replacement of inefficient paper forms with digital and interactive forms. “One of the biggest things we hear from hospitals all over the country is ‘Is your platform integrated with my existing EMR or financial system?’ This element of the system design has been given great attention, and I know our customers will appreciate that content stored in eFolders will be easily accessible to users directly from Allscripts, Epic, Soarian, MEDITECH and Lawson with the ability to call upon external resources. It was important to us during the design phase to include extensive API’s that literally make eFolders as transparent to the customer as they wanted it to be. Many users will not know that their invoice or contract is even stored in eFolders,” Park said.
